February 2008 Update: I've been very busy building mandolins and this website has not been updated in many months. I plan to release a completely revamped site later this year. In the meantime, I’ve added a Sound Samples page with demos of five mandolins played by Dick Nunneley, and a Photo Gallery with nearly one hundred photos of my instruments. Hope you enjoy them.
Best, Hans Brentrup
Brentrup Mandolins are individually handcrafted using the finest materials available. Model 23 constructed to the specifications of a 1923 Style 5 master mandolin. While every effort has been made to faithfully reproduce the design, slight refinements have added to the overall sculpture of the instrument. Model 21 is my rendition of the “A” style mandolin. Only the finest Engelmann, West Virginia Red, German and Italian spruces are used, and the maples range from well-flamed to finest old tonewood. Standard models are bound in tortoise shell celluloid, resulting in a beautifully understated instrument. Ivoroid binding is an option for a strictly traditional mandolin. |
