One of my favorite tonewood combinations is Adirodack red spruce and quartersawn white oak. Dyed properly, White oak makes a beautiful guitar and the tone is both fundemental and outstanding! Very bluesy...

Prairie State solid peghead with Larson floral inlay and African blackwood overlay.

After finishing the 18" Prairie State, I was struck with the idea of building a very short scale version. Goals were to make playing very easy with a large sound. Heavy strings are used to allow very low action. Another local builder has tagged the instrument "The old man's guitar" because of older folks problems with arthritis and other hand/arm issues.
